What an Ash-hole

What fun! A new toy to distract me from doing any actual work while at work. As if checking the Alaska Volcano Observatory website every twenty minutes wasn't taking up enough of my time.

I've been waiting for the ash from Augustine Volcano to make its way over to this side of the penninsula, but I don't think it's going to happen. It is putting on quite the show, however. As you can see, it's a very pretty volcano. This photo was taken last Tuesday. Not quite as exciting as the pics from yesterday's eruption, but it's still purty.

Speaking of gaping holes spewing noxious fumes, Dubya was on TV last night. Fortunately, we don't get any channels so I was spared listening to his inane rhetoric. On a side note, however, it's nice to see the Capitol police evenly distributing their heavy-handed removal of evil old ladies who wear message t-shirts during the President's address. It's refreshing to see a few in the GOP as incensed about the erosion of civil liberties as most everyone else is. Too bad it had to take having a congressmember's wife escorted from the House chamber before they recognize the value of free speech.

Finally, the Oscar nominations have been announced. While I've as of yet only seen two of the nominees for Best Picture, I have a feeling Crash will continue to be my favorite of the bunch. If you haven't seen it, you should. It's an incredibly powerful film that deserves its nomination.

I'm going for the distinguished intellectual look...sort of like a smart Richard Gere, but better looking.
