Tavasci Marsh

Some pictures from the hike I took this morning to Tavasci Marsh at Tuzigoot National Monument.

Green-winged and Cinnamon Teals

Cinammon Teal

Green-winged Teal

Redhead

Common Moorhen and some teals

Gadwall and Pied-billed Grebe

And, two photos of what I think is a Swamp Sparrow (which, if that ID is correct, would be a lifer for me). What do you all think? Is it a Swamp Sparrow?

Could be a swamp sparrow. i asked Alondra and she agreed the pictures aren't clear enough for a positive ID.

Well, if Alondra can't quite tell now I don't feel so bad about not getting it myself.

Beautiful photos, Paul. I am always envious of birders. I wish I had the knowledge, time and patience to become one myself.

Once I gave a PowerPoint presentation on birding, hoping that people would assume that I was, in fact, a birder. The actual birder who helped me plan the presentation told me to anticipate the question "What is the rarest bird you've seen?" Given my age, geographical location, etc., the answer was "a yellow-bellied sapsucker."

Of course, I really want to see one now!

Great blog. Really fun to look at!
